I gree to a large extent with your post, but quite do not see listening as an ALWAYS PASSIVE skill. contrarily, it entails a lot cognitive effort on the part of the listener, who seek to make out the meaning of what they heear. to put another way, people listen for a purpose. Therefore, when they do not hear correctly, they usually ask the speaker to repeat, or clarify what they said. In sum, listening is an interactive skill; interaction with the text (listening content), self, and the world
